Secondary Education Program - Trust and Care Rwanda

Secondary Education

Our Secondary Education Program is designed to support students during the critical transition from childhood to adulthood, ensuring that talented learners from vulnerable backgrounds are able to complete their secondary education and successfully progress to higher education or the job market.

About Secondary Program Support

Secondary education is a key stage where many students from disadvantaged families face challenges such as financial constraints, limited academic support, and insufficient guidance on future opportunities. To address these barriers, the program applies a holistic approach that combines financial assistance with academic support and personal development initiatives.

TCR works closely with local authorities and secondary schools to identify and select children in need, particularly those who are academically promising but at risk of dropping out due to financial hardship. Through this targeted support, the program ensures that students not only complete their secondary education but also gain the confidence, skills, and guidance needed to shape a better future.

Key Program Components

Our comprehensive approach addresses all aspects of student development during the critical secondary education years.

Comprehensive Educational Financial Support

We provide comprehensive educational financial support by covering school fees, supplying scholastic materials, and supporting school feeding programs. This holistic approach reduces financial barriers to education, ensuring that children can learn in a stable, well-supported environment and fully participate in their academic journey.

School and Home Mentorship Visits

We conduct regular school and home visits to closely follow up on children’s academic progress and wellbeing. Through mentorship, we provide guidance, encouragement, and life skills support to learners, while also engaging parents and teachers to create a strong support system. This approach helps improve discipline, performance, and overall child development both at school and at home.

Leadership Development

Through workshops, seminars, and practical activities, we develop students' leadership skills, teamwork abilities, and ethical decision-making capabilities. These skills prepare them for future roles in their communities and professions.

Life Skills Training

Our comprehensive life skills curriculum covers financial literacy, health education, communication skills, time management, and conflict resolution. These essential skills prepare students for independent living and adult responsibilities.

University Preparation

For students aspiring to higher education, we provide specialized support including university application assistance, scholarship guidance, entrance exam preparation, and campus visit opportunities.
